Image Description:
Still wearing its former French Navy markings (ex WU-15). This aircraft was initially kept in airworthy condition for some years, painted in RAF markings with its original serial NX611. In 1974 it went to RAF Scampton for static display, where it remained until moved to East Kirby in 1988. It's still there today, wonderfully preserved in taxiing condition by the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre.

The Lancaster was developed from the Manchester and became one of the outstanding aircraft of WWII. Mainstay of Bomber Command's night offensive against Germany the 'Lanc' was also used on many special operations including the Dam Busters raid.
