In 1966 Alaska Airlines put the Boeing 727 into service. In the pre "Eskimo face" era Alaska's fleet bore the legend "Golden Nugget Jet".

The Boeing 727 was the first trijet introduced into commercial service and for over a decade it was the most produced commercial jet airliner in the world. Many aircraft are still to be found in service today especially as freighters

The Stretched version of the 727-100 is the -200 which is some 20 feet longer and entered service in 1967.
