- This US Army Air Forces B-17 crashed into a swamp in Papua New Guinea 1942 during a raid on the island. Nicknamed 'Swamp Ghost' the aircraft was re-discovered in 1972 and eventually salvaged and returned to Hawaii in 2010 for restoration in the Pacific Aviation Museum.
