Aircraft Data

The DC-8 is a medium to long range 4 engined airliner. It was the first jet powered airliner from Douglas, and the USA's second successful jet airliner after the Boeing 707. It was developed into many variants of differing ranges and capacities.

The DC-8-33 substituted more powerful JT4A-11 turbojets, a modification to the flap linkage to allow a 1.5 degree setting for more efficient cruise, stronger landing gear, higher maximum weight. Many -31 and -32 DC-8s were upgraded to this standard.
