- XS903 was built at Salmesbury and made its first flight on 17 August 1966 and joined 5 Squadron at Binbrook. It made a nosewheel-up landing at Coningsby on 14 September 1979. Following various spells with 11 Squadron, flown in to Elvington in 1988

The prototype aircraft were known as the P.1. The First Lightning was delivered to the RAF in 1960 as the F1. Various upgrades and modifications resulted over the years which resulted in many versions.
