Event running from August 29th to August 31st, 2013
Now established in its late-Summer slot, the 2013 LAA Rally was held over the weekend of 30th August to 1st September 2013. The rally is basically a annual big get-together for private pilots who can fly, look at, learn about and talk aeroplanes all weekend. Blessed with warm and dry weather, albeit with a brisk crosswind at times, the rally drew good numbers of flying visitors and allowed Sywell to boast being the busiest airfield in the UK at times during the rally - Saturday saw over 400 arrivals and 400 departures, with over 600 aircraft being parked on the airfield at various times on Saturday and more than 400 on Sunday. The majority of flying visitors come in single-engined “permit” aircraft (types overseen by the LAA) or CAA certificated aircraft, flown by their owners., and should the weather be benign (as it was this year) aircraft will arrive from across the U.K. and the European continent.
